Frequently asked questions

What is the female dovetail (332147) for?
The female dovetail is the receiver half of the rear end door latch. It's mounted on the body and takes the male dovetail on the door, aligning and pulling the door tight as it shuts. It fits the Land Rover Series 2 and 3 and Defender up to 2016 rear door.
Is this the door half or the body half?
This is the female half, the receiver that mounts on the body aperture, not the male dovetail wedge that fits the door. The two work as a pair, so check which half is worn before ordering. A worn female dovetail lets the rear door rattle or sit loose.
How do I know if the dovetail needs replacing?
Replace the female dovetail if the rear door rattles, sits proud, or slams without pulling in tight. Wear in the receiver stops the door locating cleanly. Check the mating male dovetail at the same time, as both wear together and renewing one alone may not fully cure the play.
