What does the crankshaft position sensor do?
The crankshaft position sensor mounts at the crankshaft and reads the reluctor ring to track crankshaft angle and speed on the Jaguar AJ-series V8 (4.0L and 4.2L) petrol engine. The control module uses this signal to schedule ignition and injection timing. This is an Intermotor sensor.
What are the symptoms of a failing crank sensor?
A failing crankshaft position sensor typically causes a no-start, intermittent stalling, or a crank-signal fault code, since the ECM can't establish engine position without it. Failures often appear when hot then clear when cool, a common cause of erratic starting on the AJ V8.
How do I confirm it fits my Jaguar?
