Frequently asked questions

What does the AJ89484-G thermostat cover do?
The AJ89484-G thermostat cover forms the coolant outlet housing on the 4.0L and 4.2L naturally aspirated V8 petrol engine. It encloses the thermostat at the engine coolant outlet and gives the top hose its connection point, directing coolant to the radiator once the thermostat opens.
Which Jaguar engine does this thermostat cover fit?
This thermostat cover fits the Jaguar XK8 (X100) with the 4.0L and 4.2L naturally aspirated V8. It's for the naturally aspirated engine only and excludes the supercharged V8, which uses a different coolant outlet arrangement.
Why does a thermostat cover need replacing?
Thermostat covers typically need replacing when the housing cracks or its sealing face warps, which usually causes a coolant leak at the outlet on the 4.0L or 4.2L V8. Age, heat cycling, and corrosion of the housing are the common causes, so a leaking cover is renewed to reseal the outlet.
