Frequently asked questions

What does the Range Rover Classic steering box do?
The steering box is the power-assisted recirculating-ball steering gear. It converts rotation of the steering column into the swing of the drop arm, which drives the steering linkage, with hydraulic assistance fed from the power steering pump to ease steering effort.
Which vehicle does this steering box fit?
This steering box fits the Range Rover Classic with power steering. It bolts to the chassis and carries the drop arm on its splined output shaft. Confirm your vehicle has the power-assisted recirculating-ball setup before ordering.
Has this steering box been superseded?
Yes, this box (ANR3241) has been superseded by part number ANR5321. If you're matching to the latest available steering box for the Range Rover Classic, ANR5321 is the current replacement reference to check against your application.
What are the signs of a worn steering box?
A worn steering box typically gives steering play or wander, a knock through the wheel, or power steering fluid leaking from the box or its seals. On a recirculating-ball box, excess free play at the wheel is a common symptom.
