What is the DA5233 crankshaft sensor kit and what does it do?
The DA5233 is the crankshaft position sensor and wiring repair lead for the Td5 diesel. The sensor reads the flywheel reluctor to tell the ECU engine speed and crank position, which it uses to control fuel injection and timing on the Defender and Discovery 2 Td5.
Which vehicles use this Td5 crankshaft sensor?
The DA5233 fits the Td5 engine only, in the Defender (1998-2006) and Discovery 2 (1998-2004). It will not suit the earlier 300Tdi or petrol engines, so confirm your vehicle has the Td5 before ordering.
What are the signs a Td5 crankshaft sensor is failing?
A failing crankshaft sensor on the Td5 typically causes stalling, hot-start trouble, or a no-start where the engine cranks but does not fire. The wiring at the sensor plug also chafes and corrodes, which is why this kit includes a repair lead to renew the harness with the sensor.
