Frequently asked questions

What is the DA8098 sound deadening roller for?
The DA8098 is a 2in (50mm) hand roller used to press self-adhesive sound-deadening panels firmly onto a surface. Rolling the panel down expels trapped air and works the butyl adhesive into full contact with the metal, which is essential for the damping material to perform.
Do I really need a roller to fit sound deadening?
Yes, a roller matters more than it looks. Sound deadening only damps vibration if the butyl layer is fully bonded with no air gaps, and hand pressure alone won't achieve that. The solid 2in roller applies firm, even pressure into recesses and around curves that fingers can't reach.
Will the roller work with any brand of sound deadening?
Yes, the 2in roller is a universal application tool and isn't vehicle-specific. It works with Dynamat and other butyl-backed panels. Allmakes lists it alongside the Defender Dynamat kits, but you can use it on any self-adhesive damping material during installation.
