Frequently asked questions

What does the EAZ1269-INA timing chain do?
This is the primary lower timing chain in the V8 petrol engine, running from the crankshaft sprocket to the camshaft drive to keep the camshafts in time with the crankshaft. It's a simplex single-row chain that sits in the lower timing case behind the front cover.
Should the timing chains be replaced as a pair?
Yes. The V8 petrol engine drives its camshafts through two chains, so this primary chain is normally renewed together with its pair. Doing both at once keeps timing consistent and avoids a second strip-down. Fitting needs the dedicated timing tools to lock and align the drive.
What are the signs a timing chain needs replacing?
A worn timing chain on the V8 petrol engine typically rattles on start-up or under load as it stretches and the tensioner runs out of travel. Left unchecked, a stretched chain can jump timing. This is an OEM INA chain fitted with the engine's dedicated timing tools.
