Nominale diameter 53 mm (gemeten 52,75 mm).

Frequently asked questions

What is a cup-type core plug used for?
A cup-type core plug seals the core holes left in the engine block casting after manufacture. It's pressed into the machined bore to seal against the coolant jacket and also acts as a relief point if the coolant freezes, helping protect the block.
What size is this core plug?
This is a nominal 53mm core plug, measuring 52.75mm across. Core plugs are sized to the bore in the block, so match the diameter carefully to get a proper seal.
Which engines does this 53mm core plug fit?
This 53mm plug fits the 2.25L and 2.5L petrol and diesel engines, including the 200Tdi and 300Tdi, on the Defender, Series, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.
When should a core plug be replaced?
A core plug is typically replaced during an engine rebuild, or sooner if it's corroding or weeping coolant. A rusted plug can fail and lose coolant, so it's worth renewing accessible ones while the engine is apart.
