Frequently asked questions

What is the ERR4883LR adjusting screw for?
The ERR4883LR is a genuine Land Rover tappet adjusting screw for the 2.5L 300TDi. It screws into the rocker arm to press on the valve tappet, setting valve clearance and locking with its nut once the gap is correct.
How many do I need for the engine?
Each rocker arm uses one adjusting screw, so quantity follows the number of valves on the 300TDi. Most owners replace them only when the contact tip is worn or the thread is stripped.
Is fitting this a DIY job?
Setting the screw is done with the cam cover removed, using feeler gauges to gap each valve before tightening the locknut. It's a straightforward 300TDi valve clearance job for a competent home mechanic.
