Frequently asked questions

What does the ERR7141L oil cooler pipe do?
The ERR7141L oil cooler pipe carries engine oil from the engine to the external oil cooler on the Freelander 1 2.0L L-series diesel. It forms one half of the oil cooling circuit, routing hot oil out to the cooler before it returns to the engine.
Is there a matching return pipe?
Yes, the ERR7141L feed pipe works with the companion return pipe ERR7140L to complete the oil cooler circuit on the Freelander 1 L-series diesel. Both pipes typically age together, so it's worth replacing them as a pair to avoid a repeat job.
Why do these oil cooler pipes fail?
Oil cooler pipes typically fail through age-related perishing, corrosion, and chafing on the Freelander 1 2.0L diesel, leading to oil leaks. A failure causes oil loss and potential engine damage, so inspect them whenever the cooling circuit is disturbed.
