The FTC500010 oil seal seals the output shaft where it exits the R380 gearbox extension case (the rear or tail housing). It retains gearbox oil and keeps dirt and water out at the rear propshaft coupling.
What are the signs the extension case oil seal has failed?
A failed extension case oil seal typically shows as gearbox oil weeping from the rear of the R380 box and tracking along the propshaft. Left unsealed, a dropping oil level can starve the gearbox and cause internal wear.
