Frequently asked questions

What does the steel snorkel kit do?
The steel snorkel kit is a raised air intake that relocates the engine air intake from the standard wing position up to roof height along the windscreen pillar. This draws cleaner, cooler air and reduces the risk of water and dust entering the engine during deep-water wading and dusty driving.
Which models and engines does this snorkel fit?
This steel snorkel kit is configured for the Land Rover Defender 90 and 110 with the 300 TDi and Td5 engines. It's part of the Mantec range and matches the intake layout of those specific engine installations.
Is fitting a snorkel a DIY job?
Fitting this snorkel typically involves drilling the front wing and windscreen pillar to route the intake, so it's a moderate job that suits a confident DIY fitter or a workshop. Take care to seal all joints properly, as any leaks defeat the purpose during wading.
