Klepseals worden in de klepgeleider in het klepmechanisme van de cilinderkop geplaatst en dichten het punt af waar de klepsteel door de geleider gaat.

Ze reguleren de oliefilm op de klepsteel, waardoor wordt voorkomen dat overtollige smeerolie via de geleider in de inlaat- of uitlaatpoort wordt gezogen. Geschikt voor de 2.2L en 2.4L Duratorq TDCi dieselcilinderkop.

What does the valve stem oil seal do?
The valve stem oil seal seats on the valve guide in the cylinder head, sealing where the valve stem passes through the guide. It meters the oil film on the stem, stopping excess oil being drawn down the guide into the intake or exhaust port. Fitted to the 2.2L and 2.4L Duratorq TDCi diesel head.
How many valve stem seals are needed for the engine?
Typically one seal per valve, so a full cylinder head set needs one for each valve. These 16-valve Puma diesel engines have sixteen valves, so a complete replacement is normally sixteen seals. Most people fit the full set while the head is off.
Why do valve stem seals fail and what are the signs?
Valve stem seals typically fail when the rubber hardens and loses its grip on the stem, letting oil seep past into the combustion chamber. The classic sign is blue smoke on start-up or after idling. Worn seals usually mean rising oil consumption.
