The crankshaft front oil seal fits in the timing gear cover, sealing the crankshaft nose where it passes out through the front cover. It runs on the crankshaft sealing surface and retains engine oil within the timing drive on the AJ133 petrol engines.
What does fitting this crankshaft seal involve?
Renewing the front crankshaft seal requires removing the crankshaft pulley and damper to reach it. A worn seal typically leaks oil at the front of the engine that can reach the drive belt, so it's usually done once the front of the engine is already apart.
