De buitenste dorpel is het onderste carrosseriepaneel dat de structurele dorpel onder de deuropeningen afsluit. Dit halve dorpelpaneel vervangt de gecorrodeerde buitenhuid langs de bijrijderszijde van een vierdeurs carrosserie, herstelt de onderste carrosserielijn en biedt het montageoppervlak voor sierlijsten en afdichtingen.
