Frequently asked questions

What is the step mat used for?

The step mat is the rubber anti-slip cover for the rear bumper-mounted folding step on the Land Rover Defender 90 and 110. It fits the top face of the folding step to give grip underfoot when you're climbing up to reach the load area.

Is the step mat sold on its own or with the step?

The step mat is the rubber pad only, not the complete folding rear step assembly on the Land Rover Defender. It's the replacement grip surface that sits on top of an existing rear step, so you reuse your step frame and just renew the worn rubber mat.

How is the step mat fitted to the folding step?

The step mat fits onto the top surface of the Defender's rear folding step and typically sits flush on the step plate. Replacing it is usually a straightforward DIY job once the old mat is peeled off, needing only basic hand tools.
