Which Defender engines and versions does it fit?

It fits the 2007-2016 Defender with the 2.4L Puma TDCi (140PS) or 2.2L TDCi (122PS) diesel engine, built with no air conditioning or with manual air conditioning. The 2.4L covers VIN 7A000001 to BA999999; the 2.2L applies from VIN CA000001.

What are the signs this idler pulley needs replacing?

A failing idler pulley typically produces a bearing rumble, squeal or chirp from the front of the engine that changes with engine speed. Play or roughness when spinning it by hand is another sign. A seized pulley can shred the auxiliary belt, so it's usually replaced at the first sign of bearing noise.

Should the drive belt be changed at the same time?
