Frequently asked questions

What is the PRC8823 fuel sender and what does it do?
The PRC8823 is a float-arm fuel sender for the fuel tank level circuit. It mounts inside the fuel tank and signals the fuel level to the instrument-panel gauge as the float rises and falls. This is the OEM diesel-application sender.
Which Range Rover does this diesel fuel sender fit?
This fuel sender fits the Range Rover Classic with the diesel engine, from VIN GA464553 onward. It's the diesel-specific tank sender, so it isn't the right unit for petrol Classics. Check your chassis number is GA464553 or later and that your vehicle is diesel before ordering.
Why does a fuel sender fail and what are the signs?
A fuel sender typically fails when the float arm's resistance track wears or the float leaks and sinks. Symptoms usually include a fuel gauge stuck on empty or full, or a needle that jumps around regardless of tank level. On the diesel Range Rover Classic, test the sender before suspecting the gauge or wiring.
