Frequently asked questions

What does the QFW000010 steering rack boot kit do?
The steering rack boot kit seals the ends of the steering rack on the Range Rover L322, keeping road spray, grit and salt away from the rack's inner joints and shaft. Once a boot splits, contamination gets into the rack and wear accelerates quickly.
Where are the steering rack boots located on a Range Rover L322?
The rack boots sit at each end of the steering rack, behind the front subframe, where the inner track rod joints meet the rack shaft. You'll usually need the front of the vehicle raised and the track rod ends released to reach them.
How do I know if my steering rack boots need replacing?
Split, perished or grease-soaked boots are the usual signs. A torn boot lets water and grit reach the rack, which typically shows up later as steering play, knocking over bumps or a leak from the rack. Boots are usually replaced in pairs while the rack is accessible.
How do I confirm this kit fits my Range Rover?
This kit covers the Range Rover L322 (2002-2012), but fitment splits by VIN part way through that run. Quote your chassis number when ordering to confirm the correct variant rather than going on model year alone.
