What is the mounting rubber used for?
The mounting rubber is a vibration isolator for the air suspension air supply unit, the combined compressor and valve block, on the Range Rover P38. It fits between the unit and its bracket, absorbing motor vibration and cutting the noise passed into the body while the EAS compressor runs.
Where does this mounting rubber fit?
The mounting rubber fits between the P38 air suspension supply unit and its mounting bracket. The EAS compressor and valve block sit on these rubber isolators, which locate the unit and damp the vibration it produces. Worn mounts let the unit rattle against the body.
How do I know if the mounting rubber needs replacing?
Replace the mounting rubber when it's perished, cracked, or collapsed, which typically shows up as extra noise or buzzing from the air suspension compressor. A failed isolator lets vibration transfer into the body and can fatigue the unit over time. Fresh rubbers quieten the system.
