What is the Track Rod Flange Nut used for?
The Track Rod Flange Nut secures the track rod end's tapered ball-joint stud where it meets the steering arm. Its integral flange spreads clamping load across the joint face, so no separate washer is needed. On Range Rover P38 the same nut also secures the steering damper mounting flange.
How many Track Rod Flange Nuts are needed for a steering repair?
Typically one is needed per track rod end joint. A repair that disturbs both ends of the track rod usually needs one at each side. Quantities depend on how many ball-joint studs in the steering linkage you're securing.
Does this nut fit both Discovery 2 and Range Rover P38 the same way?
The flange nut fits Discovery 2 and Range Rover P38 track rod ends. On the P38 it does double duty, also clamping the steering damper mounting flange, while on Discovery 2 it secures the track rod joint. Confirm your steering setup before ordering.
