What is the TF143 commercial rear shock absorber for?
The TF143 is an uprated heavy-duty rear shock absorber for commercial and heavily laden Land Rovers. It damps spring oscillation and controls rear wheel movement between the rear axle housing and the chassis on the Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic. It's set for standard travel and standard ride height with extra damping control for loaded use.
How many TF143 rear shocks do I need?
You'll typically need two TF143 rear shock absorbers for the rear axle of a Defender, Discovery 1 or Range Rover Classic, one per side. Rear dampers are usually replaced as a pair so both sides match, especially on a vehicle that carries heavy loads. They're sold individually, so order two.
What are the signs the rear shocks need replacing?
Worn rear shocks on a Defender or Range Rover Classic typically cause the back end to bounce or wallow over bumps, sag or pitch under load, and wear the rear tyres unevenly. A leaking damper body is a clear sign. On a loaded or towing vehicle a tired rear damper usually reduces stability. Replace in pairs.
