What is chain spray lubricant used for?
Chain spray lubricant, supplied here in 2.5L, is a penetrating lubricant for drive and conveyor chains. It works into the link pins and rollers, then leaves an adhesive film that clings to the chain. That tacky film resists fling-off when the chain runs at speed and protects the links against wear and corrosion.
How is chain lubricant different from ordinary grease?
Chain lubricant penetrates first, then sets into a sticky film that stays on the chain at speed, which ordinary grease can't do without flinging off. Grease is packed into bearings and chassis points to stay put under load. For chains, you want the penetration into pins and rollers that this 2.5L chain lubricant provides.
What size jobs is the 2.5L pack suited to?
The 2.5L pack suits regular chain maintenance where a small aerosol won't keep up but a drum is too much. It's typically decanted or applied with a brush or spray applicator. For higher-volume use on multiple or larger chains, 5L and 10L packs of the same chain lubricant are also available.
