Frequently asked questions

What is the raised air intake and what does it do?
The raised air intake is a steel snorkel that relocates the engine air intake from the inner wing up to roof-line height along the right-hand windscreen pillar. It draws induction air from above the standard position, supplying cooler, cleaner air and cutting the risk of water ingestion during deep wading. Suits 300 TDi, Td5 and Puma Defenders.
Which Defender engines does this steel snorkel fit?
This steel raised air intake fits the Land Rover Defender with 300 TDi, Td5 or Puma engines, covering the 1986 to 2006 range and later Puma applications. It mounts on the right-hand side of the vehicle. Confirm your wing and pillar profile match the traditional raised-intake pattern before ordering.
Does fitting a raised air intake require cutting the wing?
Fitting this raised air intake typically requires drilling the right-hand front wing to mount the snorkel body and route it to the air filter housing inlet. It's a moderate DIY job needing basic hand tools and a hole saw or cutter. Seal the wing penetration properly to keep the induction path watertight.
