What is the front standard-length shock absorber (TF118)?
The TF118 is a twin-tube, nitrogen-charged front shock absorber for the Land Rover Discovery 2 at standard ride height. It damps the front coil-sprung suspension, controlling wheel movement over rough terrain. The twin-tube design gives a large oil volume to manage heat during sustained off-road use.
What's the difference between the standard and +2-inch travel version?
The TF118 standard-length shock suits a Discovery 2 at standard ride height. The extended +2-inch travel version is for vehicles fitted with a 2-inch suspension lift, giving extra stroke so the damper doesn't bottom out. Match the shock to your suspension height before ordering.
Should I replace shock absorbers in pairs?
Shock absorbers are typically replaced as an axle pair so damping stays even side to side on the Discovery 2. Fitting one new and one worn front damper usually gives uneven handling. Check both front shocks when replacing either one.
What are the signs a front shock absorber is worn?
Excessive body float, nose dive under braking, poor control over bumps and uneven front tyre wear typically indicate worn front dampers on a Discovery 2. Fluid leaking down the shock body is also a clear sign. Worn shocks reduce grip and stability, so replace promptly.
