Deze pakking dicht de voorkant van het kleppendeksel af naar het cilinderblok, en zorgt zo voor een oliedichte afsluiting aan de voorkant van de motor. Vervanging is nodig bij elke procedure waarbij het voorkant van het kleppendeksel verwijderd moet worden, inclusief het vervangen van de distributieriem en het vernieuwen van de voorste krukaskeerring.

What is the front cover gasket used for?
The front cover gasket seals the engine front cover to the cylinder block on the Range Rover Classic 2.5L VM Motori turbo diesel. It forms an oil-tight joint at the front of the engine, stopping oil leaks where the timing/front cover meets the block face.
When does the front cover gasket need replacing?
Replace the front cover gasket any time the front cover is removed, since the old gasket won't reseal reliably once disturbed. That includes timing belt replacement and renewal of the front crankshaft oil seal. Fitting a new gasket avoids oil leaks after the cover goes back on.
