What is the RTC6771 oil seal used for?
The RTC6771 is the front cylinder head oil feed seal for the 2.5-litre VM turbo diesel engine. It seals the oil feed passage at the front of the cylinder head, keeping the head lubrication circuit pressurised and stopping oil leaking at that junction. It's a Corteco seal.
Why does the cylinder head oil feed seal fail?
This oil feed seal hardens and shrinks with age and engine heat, letting oil weep from the front of the cylinder head. A failing seal typically shows as oil around the head or a dropping oil level. Replace it whenever the head or oil feed is disturbed to keep the lubrication circuit sealed.
How do I confirm this seal fits my vehicle?
This seal fits the Range Rover Classic with the 2.5-litre VM diesel engine, built 1986 to 1994. It covers both the early build up to (V)HA610293 and the later build from (V)JA610294. Confirm your engine is the VM 2.5 diesel before ordering.
