Frequently asked questions

What is this buffer used for?
This rubber buffer fits at the top of the door and acts as an end-stop for the sliding side window glass, limiting its travel and cushioning the pane as it reaches the end of its channel. It fits Series 2 and 3 and older Defender door tops.
How many buffers are needed per door?
Typically the sliding window channel uses a buffer at the end of glass travel, and some doors use more than one. It's sold individually, so check how many stops your door-top slider uses before ordering.
What happens if the buffer is worn or missing?
A worn or missing buffer lets the sliding glass over-travel and knock against the frame, which can chip the glass edge or cause rattles. Fitting a fresh rubber buffer restores a clean end-stop for the door-top window.
