What is the Upper Inlet Manifold Gasket for?
The Upper Inlet Manifold Gasket seals the joint where the upper and lower halves of the inlet manifold meet on the 4.4 V8 AJ EFI petrol engine. It keeps the air path into the cylinder heads sealed at the manifold split.
Will this gasket fit the 4.2 Supercharged V8?
No. This old-type upper inlet manifold gasket suits the 4.4 V8 EFI petrol engine only and will not fit the 4.2 V8 Supercharged. It's listed for the Discovery 3, Range Rover L322 and Range Rover Sport L320 (2005-2009), so check your engine is the 4.4 EFI.
When does this manifold gasket need replacing?
Replace this gasket whenever the upper inlet manifold is lifted off the lower section on the 4.4 V8, for intake work or to fix an air leak at the joint. A new gasket on reassembly reseals the path into the cylinder heads.
