What is the Fuel Pipe Olive used for?
The Fuel Pipe Olive is a compression ferrule that seals a rigid fuel pipe union. The union nut compresses the olive onto the pipe to form a leak-tight joint. It's used on the 3.5L V8 twin-carburettor fuel lines of the Defender, Series 2 and 3, and Range Rover Classic.
Can a fuel pipe olive be reused?
A fuel pipe olive is typically single-use. Once it's been compressed onto a pipe by the union nut it deforms to match, so reusing it usually means a weeping joint. Fit a fresh olive whenever the fuel union is disturbed.
How many olives do I need?
You'll need one olive per pipe union being remade. If you're replacing a full fuel line with a union at each end, that's typically two. Order to match the number of joints you're opening on the 3.5L V8 fuel system.
