De bout gaat door de middelste veerschakel en bevestigt deze aan de chassisbeugel, en vormt het draaipunt waar de schakel omheen zwenkt wanneer de bladveer veert. Een zwaarbelaste bevestiging in de bladveerophanging.

Should the shackle pin bolt be replaced rather than reused?
As a high-load pivot bolt in the leaf-spring suspension, it's typically best replaced rather than reused once removed, since the bore and threads wear where the shackle pivots. A worn shackle pin lets the spring move on its mount. Inspect the shackle and bushes at the same time.
