Frequently asked questions

What is the BH608401LLR bolt used for?
It's the centre shackle pin bolt for the leaf-spring suspension, a 1/2 inch UNF bolt 5 inches long. It passes through the centre spring shackle to secure it to the chassis hanger, forming the pivot the shackle swings on as the spring deflects.
How many BH608401LLR bolts do I need for a repair?
Each leaf spring uses one centre shackle pin bolt, so order one per spring you're servicing. It's sold as a single bolt.
Can the centre shackle pin bolt be reused, or does it need replacing every time?
As a high-load pivot fastener carrying the full deflection load of the leaf spring, it's typically replaced rather than reused once removed, especially if there's any wear on the shank or thread.
