Frequently asked questions

What is the CAC949350 Insulator used for?
The CAC949350 is the rubber insulator at the upper mounting of the rear damper. It locates the top of the damper to the body while isolating road shock and vibration passed through it. It's a wearing rubber component in the rear suspension.
What happens when the rear upper damper isolator wears out?
A perished or collapsed upper isolator typically lets the rear damper move in its mounting, causing knocking from the rear suspension and harshness over bumps. Once the rubber hardens or splits it stops cushioning the damper, so it's usually renewed when fitting new rear dampers.
What's the difference between this upper isolator and the lower one?
The CAC949350 is the upper isolator, fitting at the top mount of the rear damper. The lower isolator at the foot of the damper is a separate part, CAC949465. Check which end you need, or order both to renew the full rear damper mounting.
