The heater matrix is the heat-exchanger core that engine coolant circulates through, so the blower can pass warmed air into the cabin. It sits inside the HVAC housing and feeds the Defender's cabin ventilation. This one suits both left- and right-hand-drive.

Common signs are weak or no cabin heat, a sweet coolant smell inside, misting on the windscreen, or coolant appearing in the footwell. A leaking or blocked heater matrix stops transferring heat properly and can slowly lose coolant on the Defender.
