Komplug (vriesdop) voor de 2.5L 300TDi turbodieselmotor, gemonteerd op het cilinderblok en de cilinderkop.

Een komplug wordt in de kernopeningen geperst die zijn achtergelaten door de zandkernen tijdens het gieten, waardoor de koelvloeistofmantel wordt afgedicht. A cup plug, also called a core plug, seals the core holes left in the casting when a 2.5L 300TDi block and head are made. The cup-shaped pressing forms an interference fit in its bore to give a leak-tight seal against coolant in the water jacket.

Cup plugs are fitted to the cylinder block and head of the 2.5L 300TDi engine, sealing the coolant jacket. An engine typically has several, so you may need more than one depending on which plug is corroded or weeping.
When should a cup plug be replaced?
