Frequently asked questions

What does the ERR416 drive belt do?
The ERR416 drive belt is an auxiliary belt that runs from the crankshaft pulley to the engine accessories. It transmits crankshaft rotation to driven units such as the alternator, coolant pump and power steering pump. Fitted to Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic models.
Why does the drive belt fail and when should it be replaced?
Drive belts fail through cracking, glazing or fraying as the rubber ages and tension drops. Signs you need a new one include squealing on start-up, visible cracks, or the alternator under-driving. A snapped belt stops the coolant pump and alternator, so replace it once wear shows.
Which engines does this drive belt fit?
This drive belt fits the Discovery 1 V8 petrol and the Range Rover Classic with the 2.5L VM turbo diesel or V8 EFI engine. It doesn't fit Defender. Belt routing varies by accessory layout, so confirm your engine and ancillaries match before ordering.
