What does the ERR4352A stepper motor do?
The ERR4352A is the idle air control stepper motor for the V8 EFI petrol engine. It meters air bypassing the throttle plate so the engine ECU can hold a steady idle under varying load and temperature.
Where is the stepper motor fitted?
The stepper motor mounts on the intake plenum of the V8 EFI system. It's part of the idle air control, working with the ECU rather than the throttle cable. It fits Defender, Discovery 1 and 2, Range Rover Classic and P38 V8 EFI.
What are the symptoms of a failing stepper motor?
A failing stepper motor typically causes unstable idle, stalling, hunting or a high idle on the V8 EFI. Carbon fouling of the valve is common. Replacing it restores correct ECU idle control.
