Distributieriemkap voor de 2.5L 300TDi dieselmotor, die deel uitmaakt van de distributieriembehuizing aan de voorzijde.

De kap zit over de getande distributieriem en de aandrijftandwielen aan de voorzijde van de motor, waardoor de riem wordt beschermd tegen water, vuil en olieverontreiniging die anders de slijtage zou versnellen of de riem een tand zou laten overslaan. Hij sluit aan op het voorste deksel en wordt vastgehouden door de bevestigingen van het distributiehuis.

What does the timing belt cover do on a 300TDi?
The timing belt cover sits over the toothed timing belt and its sprockets on the front of the 2.5L 300TDi diesel engine. It shields the belt from water, road debris and oil that would otherwise speed up wear or let the belt jump a tooth. Fitted to Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic 300TDi models.
Where does the timing belt cover fit?
The timing belt cover locates against the front timing case on the 300TDi engine and is held by the timing case fixings. It encloses the timing belt and drive sprockets on the front face of the engine, forming part of the front belt enclosure.
Why is the timing belt cover important to refit?
Refitting the timing belt cover matters because it keeps grit, water and oil off the toothed belt. Debris on the belt accelerates wear and can cause it to jump a tooth, throwing the engine timing out. Always refit the cover after timing belt work.
