What is the ERR5553 piston for?
The ERR5553 is a high-compression piston for the 4.0L V8 EFI petrol engine. It reciprocates in the cylinder bore, transmitting combustion pressure through the gudgeon pin to the connecting rod and crankshaft.
Does this piston come with rings?
This piston has a high-compression crown for the raised compression ratio of this V8 build and is supplied complete with rings. A less-rings version (ERR5553NR) is offered separately for builders using their own ring set.
How many pistons do I need for a rebuild?
The 4.0L V8 uses eight pistons, so a full rebuild needs a matched set of eight. Pistons are typically replaced as a complete graded set during a rebore or overhaul so all bores run even compression. Fits Defender, Discovery 1 and 2 and Range Rover P38.
