The throttle body potentiometer reports throttle plate position to the engine management ECU on the V8 EFi petrol engine. Driven by the throttle spindle, its signal sets fuelling and idle control. Fits Discovery 2 and Range Rover P38 V8 EFi petrol.
What are the signs this throttle position sensor is failing?
A failing throttle position sensor typically brings surging, hesitation, hunting idle and poor throttle response on the V8 EFi engine. Wear in the resistive track sends the ECU an erratic angle reading. A stored throttle-position fault code usually confirms it.
