O-Ring — een afdichtring die wordt geplaatst bij brandstofleidingaansluitingen om een lekvrije verbinding te vormen.

Geplaatst in een groef en samengedrukt tussen de contactvlakken van een verbinding, houdt deze brandstof onder druk tegen en voorkomt lekken en ontsnapping van dampen bij de aansluiting. Dezelfde O-ring wordt bij sommige toepassingen ook gebruikt bij het stuurbekrachtigingsreservoir.

Als elastomeer afdichting verhardt en verliest deze zijn elasticiteit door ouderdom, hitte en blootstelling aan brandstof, daarom wordt deze vernieuwd telkens wanneer de verbinding wordt geopend om ervoor te zorgen dat deze correct opnieuw afdicht.

What is the ESR259 O-ring used for?

The ESR259 O-ring is a sealing ring fitted at fuel pipe connections to form a leak-tight joint. Seated in a groove and compressed between the mating faces of a union, it contains pressurised fuel and prevents leaks and vapour escape. On some P38 applications the same O-ring also seals the power steering reservoir.

Which Land Rovers does the ESR259 O-ring fit?

The ESR259 fits petrol fuel pipe connections on the Discovery 1, Range Rover Classic, and Range Rover P38. On the P38 it applies up to VIN WA410481 and also seals the power steering reservoir. It's an OEM part, so confirm your VIN on P38 applications where later build changes affect fitment.

Can the ESR259 O-ring be reused, or should it be replaced?

Replace the ESR259 O-ring whenever the fuel union is opened. As an elastomer seal it hardens and loses elasticity with age, heat, and fuel exposure, so a used ring typically won't reseal reliably. Fitting a fresh O-ring each time the joint is disturbed ensures a leak-tight connection.
