Frequently asked questions

What is the ETC7286 small-end bush and what does it do?
The ETC7286 small-end bush is pressed into the little end of the connecting rod and carries the gudgeon pin, providing the bearing surface between the piston and the connecting rod on the 2.5L 200 TDi diesel engine. It fits the Defender up to 2016, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.
How many small-end bushes do I need?
Typically four small-end bushes are needed for a full 200 TDi rebuild, one per connecting rod. The ETC7286 is sold individually, so order to suit the number of rods being reconditioned.
Can the ETC7286 be fitted at home?
No, fitting a small-end bush is a specialist machine-shop job. The bush is pressed into the con rod and reamed to size for the gudgeon pin. It's usually renewed when reconditioning connecting rods during an engine rebuild.
