Achteruitversnellingsmontage is het vrijloopwiel voor achteruit dat op de tussenas van de handgeschakelde vijfversnellingsbak LT77 draait.

Wanneer de achteruitversnelling wordt ingeschakeld, wordt het vrijloopwiel tussen de tussenas- en hoofdasversnellingen gebracht om de draairichting naar de uitgaande as om te keren. What does the Reverse Gear Assembly do on the LT77?
The reverse gear assembly is the reverse idler gear that runs on the layshaft of the LT77 five-speed gearbox. When you select reverse, the idler is brought into mesh between the layshaft and mainshaft gears to reverse drive to the output shaft. Fitted to the Defender and Range Rover Classic.
What are the signs the reverse idler gear needs replacing?
Worn reverse idler teeth typically cause a whine or grinding in reverse, or difficulty engaging reverse. Because the gear isn't synchronised, chipped teeth and wear are common on high-mileage LT77 boxes. It's supplied as a service assembly for gearbox rebuild.
