Frequently asked questions

What does the clutch driven plate do?
The clutch driven plate, or friction disc, is splined to the gearbox input shaft and clamped between the flywheel and the pressure plate. Its linings transmit engine torque to the gearbox when the clutch is engaged, while the sprung hub damps driveline shock. This one suits the LT95 gearbox behind the V8 petrol.
Which models use this LT95 clutch plate?
This clutch plate fits the V8 petrol with the LT95 four-speed gearbox, used on the Defender, Range Rover Classic, Series III V8 and 101 Forward Control. Confirm your gearbox is the LT95 before ordering, as V8 models ran more than one gearbox type.
Should the clutch plate be replaced with the cover and bearing?
Yes, the driven plate is normally renewed together with the clutch cover and release bearing as a set. Replacing all three at once avoids splitting the gearbox again soon after, since the components wear at a similar rate.
