What is the Wheel Bearing Kit used for?

The wheel bearing kit rebuilds one wheel hub on the Land Rover Defender, and suits either a front or rear hub. The taper roller bearings carry the hub on the stub axle and let the wheel spin freely. Renewing them clears hub rumble, roughness and play.

How many kits do I need for my Defender?

One kit rebuilds a single hub, so a full axle typically takes two kits and all four corners take four. Each kit is complete for one hub, including bearings, seal, lock nuts and fixings, so order one per hub you're overhauling.

What are the signs the wheel bearings need replacing?

A droning or rumbling noise that rises with speed, roughness when you spin the hub, or play at the wheel typically point to worn bearings on the Defender. Left unchecked, a failing bearing can damage the stub axle and hub, so renew it promptly.

Does this fit my Defender's VIN?

This kit fits the Land Rover Defender from 1994 on, from VIN (V) LA930456 onward. Earlier vehicles use a different hub setup. Check your chassis number against the LA930456 break before ordering, since the bearing arrangement changed at that point.
