What does the A/C suction O-Ring seal on a Range Rover P38?
This O-Ring seals a joint on the suction (low-pressure) side of the Range Rover P38 air conditioning circuit, where refrigerant vapour returns from the evaporator to the compressor. Seated at the union, it forms a static seal that stops refrigerant escaping at the connection.
How many suction O-Rings does a Range Rover P38 need?
A Range Rover P38 typically uses two of these suction-side O-Rings per vehicle. Replace all the seals you disturb at the same time rather than reusing any, since a single weeping joint will let the refrigerant charge escape.
Can the A/C suction O-Ring be reused?
No, this O-Ring is single-use. Once compressed it takes a set and won't reseal, so refrigerant will leak from the joint. Fit a new one and lubricate it with refrigerant oil whenever you open the suction-side connection on the P38 air conditioning.
