Frequently asked questions

What is the Axle Reinforcing Kit used for?
The Axle Reinforcing Kit strengthens the front axle casing on housings fitted with the long-nose Rover differential. The weld-on plates reinforce the axle tubes and diff housing to resist bending and flex under heavy off-road loading on the Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.
Does my axle have a long-nose diff?
This kit suits the long-nose Rover front differential only. Land Rover used both long-nose and short-nose diffs across these models, so identify your diff type before ordering. The wrong kit won't line up with your axle casing.
How is it fitted?
The reinforcing kit is welded onto the front axle, so fitting is a specialist job needing a competent welder rather than a bolt-on install. The plates are added over the axle tubes and differential housing. It's aimed at vehicles taking heavy off-road or expedition loads.
