Do I need one valve guide or a full set?
Every valve in the head has its own guide, so a full rebuild needs one per valve rather than a single item. This guide is supplied individually.
Can a valve guide be replaced with the head still on the engine?
No. Replacement needs the cylinder head removed since the guide is pressed in, and it's reamed to the correct stem clearance afterward, so this is a machine shop task rather than a home job.
