Frequently asked questions

What does the LR001137 rear bump stop do?
The rear bump stop is a moulded rubber component of the rear damper and coil spring assembly. It fits over the shock absorber piston rod above the damper body and limits rear suspension travel on compression, cushioning the loads fed into the body so the damper does not bottom out.
How many rear bump stops are needed?
Two rear bump stops are fitted per vehicle, one at each rear corner. Replace them as a pair so the rear suspension behaves evenly side to side on the Freelander 2.
What are the signs of a worn rear bump stop?
A worn or crumbling rear bump stop typically shows as a knock over bumps and harsher impacts when the suspension compresses fully. As the rubber degrades it no longer cushions the end of the stroke, so heavy loads reach the body structure.
