The LR007170 intercooler is the charge air cooler for the 3.6L V8 TDV8 diesel engine. It lowers the temperature of the compressed air leaving the turbochargers before it reaches the inlet manifold. The cooler, denser charge raises the oxygen available for combustion and limits inlet temperatures under sustained boost.
What should I check when fitting this intercooler?
When fitting the LR007170 intercooler, check the charge air hoses between the turbocharger outlet and the inlet manifold for splits and secure clamping. The core connects through those hoses, so worn or loose hoses can cause boost leaks on the 3.6 TDV8. Renewing tired hoses at the same time avoids a repeat strip-down.
