De isolator is een rubberen bevestiging die het uitlaatsysteem ophangt aan het chassis van het voertuig. Deze isoleert uitlaattrillingen van de carrosserie en maakt thermische uitzetting mogelijk wanneer het systeem tijdens gebruik opwarmt en afkoelt. Het wordt gemonteerd tussen de uitlaathouderbeugel en de carrosserie, houdt de uitlaat op zijn plaats en voorkomt dat door de uitlaat gegenereerde geluiden en trillingen in de cabine terechtkomen.
